Chevron Love: Chevron Fabrics from Zazzle

When fabrics were first released in zazzle, I came out with a bunch of different chevron fabric patterns! I even made solid colours to match them as well. I realized I have never shared these sets on my blog, so now is as good a time as ever to do so. You can buy the patterns in 7 different weights and types of fabric, and the swatches start at $6.

Watercolour Pineapple Print Collection: on Nuvango & Zazzle

My friend in British Columbia told me today that flowers are budding where he lives! And here I am, stuck in Ontario, with snow, snow, more snow, and freezing rain. The weather network has given me hope that it will be warming up soon.

In hopes that the weather man is not lying and it will indeed be warming up soon, I am featuring my Tropical watercolour pineapple print today! I created this design a while ago, but decided to spruce it up for my Nuvango shop. This design is one of my experiments with watercolours in a digital environment. I really love working in this technique, and I will definitely be producing more works like this in the future. The downside: each watercolour cutout is a digital mask, making a file so big that I can no longer open the original pineapple pattern on this laptop. Good thing I saved a single pineapple separately. ;) Along with the warm weather, I am hoping for a new laptop this year too. :P

Tropical Pineapple Print fabric! This fabric is proving to be pretty popular on Zazzle. This fabric features a customizable background colour. I used this bright, minty, tropical greenish blue as a sort of risky colour choice... but I liked it so much that I created a pattern in similar colours for Nuvango! 

My pattern on iPhone 6 skin! The skins at Nuvango always look so nice. I love how bright and fresh these colours look, definitely tropical! This phone skin is becoming especially popular on Polyvore... its been used in sets over 10 times now! 

Tropical Pineapple print womens tshirt! Nuvango released shirts as part of their collection on February 10th. I love how they print your design on every part of the shirt. 

Skins for the DSi, 3ds, and 3ds XL on Nuvango. Nintendo fans living in America (like me) are upset that we don't get the cool new 3DS that Asia and Europe are getting that have interchangeable designed backings. I was happy to see Nuvango has a collection of skins for DS! Gelaskins are removable, protect your device from scratches, and make your DS beautiful. Shown in this preview is a DSi, because the 3ds and 3ds XL previews on Nuvango don't seem to show the interior skin. All the skins cover the interior and exterior of the DS. I will be making one for my 3DS soon enough! :) :) 

This is so cute! The wii u controller comes in all black by default. What a nice way to make it completely unique...  and protect it from scratches at the same time! Nuvango skins fit over the back and front of the devices. 

Sick of winter: Summer Set on Polyvore

I made a set on polyvore to help me beat away the winter blues! Summer
will be here soon enough. Only 2 more months. XD Featured in this set is
my pink gradient chevron iPhone skin from nuvango as well as my
decorated hair girl tote bag from society6! I love how everything matches
in its own way. Also, I love that hat. Brazil nut from the body shop is my
favourite scent.. I have the oil version of it and its so good! It smells like
caramel and roasted marshmallows.

The first design I am sharing from my society 6 page! I hope I will have time for updating this page this month.  I really love these tote bags. Fully covered with art is how they should all be!

As I sit here drinking tea (forever nuts from Davids tea.. my new fave!) trying to rid myself of this awful cold I have caught, I decided that this is as good a time as ever to update my blog with my new design. 

I drew this girl last weekend at the cheerleading competition I was working at. This was a fantastic little project for me to work on because once I got the lineart done, filling in the small details of the hair could be done in small parts in between my actual work. I burn on site DVDs, so when I'm waiting for some DVDs to pop out, I can sneak a bit of drawing in. :) I used my sharpie pens (I lost one pen in the making of this drawing) and my lovely staedtler black marker (two sided, has lasted me FOREVER!) to create this image. I love drawing portraits, and colouring the hair in with patterns is something I have wanted to try for a long time. I am pretty happy with how it turned out! 

I am also really excited to have started on Society6! This one will be a challenge to get used to because it has a slightly different dynamic to it than zazzle. Here is my Society6 page! :)

The original, for comparisons sake: My drawing in poster format! I don't make many of my drawings available for print on canvas or poster formats, but I felt like this one deserved it.

Barely there iPhone 6 case. I love love love the way this design looks on the electronic cases!  It just goes so nicely.

This awesome laptop bag is surprisingly cool. I angled it differently because it didn't look right in the portrait format I originally had. The way it is now, the girls hair perfectly curves with the bag! I'm glad it turned out the way it did.

Last but not least, the clearly uncommon iPhone 6 plus case! The apple logo still shines through.  It actually goes pretty well with the design. It looks almost like a hair clip in her hair. XD

See how peaceful she looks? This drawing was my calm in the endless sea of cheerleaders. ;)

February stats from Zazzle, Redbubble, and Nuvango

As of the end of February, I have been on Nuvango for 1 month, Redbubble for two months, and Zazzle for 3 months! This has been an exciting month for me with lots of unexpected surprises, tons of inspiration, and new products being added that I love to design on. These past two weeks have been super busy for me so I haven't been updating my blog and social media streams as much as I would like, but I still managed to stay productive in the mean time. Here is the breakdown of what has happened in my shops this month!

My Nuvango Shop

As you know, this month I joined a relatively small POD site, Nuvango! Nuvango is made by the same people who made Gelaskins, they turned it into an artists network where you can print you designs on cases, Gelaskins, and art prints. A week after I joined they even added t-shirts and pillows to their collection. I was surprised to actually have a sale already on this website, as I was under the impression I would get little to no traffic. One thing about Nuvango is that I don't know how to add it to google analytics and track my page views... so here are some of the stats I do have!

Designs added: 17
Followers: 4
Most Liked Design: Tri Colour Geometric Fade with 13 likes, also previewed on the first page of Nuvango's curated "Patterns & Textures" gallery!
Sales: 1
Advertising/Sharing: Some advertising and social media exposure, shared on Pinterest, Polyvore & Wanelo

Here is my most liked design in an iPad air skin! Its a very simple one, but people seem to like it a lot. 

My Sold item was this design in an iPhone 6 skin! My watercolour leaf pattern sold when there was no likes on it at all! Now it has 6 likes. 

My Redbubble Shop

I think the types of patterns that seem to be popular on Zazzle and Nuvango just don't sell on Redbubble. I continue to get views on the designs I added last month and the month before. One thing I do like about redbubble is that their shipping cost is low, and they give designers a discount. I have ordered something from my redbubble shop for this reason. I think I am going to let my redbubble shop sit, and just buy my own stuff from it while using Zazzle and Nuvango to actually sell my designs. Here are my redbubble stats:

Pageviews: 6014 across 20 designs (my page views tripled since last month!)
Most Viewed Design: Still Red fox and hearts, with 751 views
Advertising/Sharing: Very little advertising and sharing, some stuff on pinterest
Item that I bought from myself: Cat to be Kitten me Pillow (my sister will love this birthday present)

I was going to buy this from zazzle when it was on sale for $21, but then they wanted to charge me $23 shipping, YIKES! So I bought it from redbubble instead. The total with shipping was $25! Definitely a good place to buy my own artwork from.

My Zazzle Shop

My Zazzle shop was really exciting this month! Even in January, after I finished up my monthly post, I had a sale on an iPhone case, bringing two sales to the seemingly dead month of January. This inspired me to keep going for February, and I am so glad I did! I was hoping for three sales this month, to continue the increasing sales trend, but I experienced a huge jump and actually got 7 sales this month! That was really exciting. Other than that, I was one of the winners in a Zazzle fabric contest this month, I updated my store front to look nicer, and one of my fabrics was mysteriously purchased by someone on the zazzle team, leading me and others to believe it may be used for merchandising purposes!

Phew! That was a busy month. I am really happy to see my shops gaining more momentum. February will definitely be hard to live up to, but I'm sure with more hard work I can pull it off! It seems like I will be putting my redbubble shop on the back burner and continue to focus on Zazzle and Nuvango. I'll continue to give stats from my redbubble shop in my monthly updates, for comparisons sake. I will also be continuing the trend of joining a new POD website this month, and I am thinking about joining Society 6.
