Midnight Flowers Pattern

Midnight Flowers Pattern Art Print

One of the newest designs available at my RedBubble and Society6 shop is what I like to call my Midnight Flowers Pattern. This past weekend I continued with my theme of exploration in my artwork. I tried a few new techniques, and ventured out of my usual work process to explore different styles of patterning. One style in particular I explored was mandala artwork, and I made a variety of mandalas and repeating patterns with mandala elements. This is one of them!

Out of all the new designs I created this weekend, this is one of my favourites. It is pretty and simple, and the colours I used reminds me of the willow pottery design - I have always loved the blue and white colour palette that is used for it. I actually created this pattern using the tangles pattern that I made last month as a base! I took a section of that pattern and repeated it differently in adobe illustrator. You can hardly tell that they are from the same linework, but if you look closely you can start to see the similarities.

This simple design has small details that makes it a great fit for home decor.

Gold and Red Leaf Pattern | New at my shop!

I've continued my burst of creativity well into October - although I have had less time to actually draw, I've been looking at some of my recent work in new ways. If this pattern looks familiar, its because it is! I reworked my Autumn leaf pattern to shine and stand out in a beautiful red and gold colour palette!

I've been all about the shine lately, adding gold everywhere possible and pairing it with a variety of different colours. I think that this gold leaf pattern with a deep red background is surprisingly a really nice, elegant pattern for the holidays! While the colour theme is very much a holiday palette, the subject matter of different shapes of leaves is not, so I thought it gave this design a unique twist and makes it stand out from the traditional christmas tree designs.

I originally drew these leaves in a vector format using Adobe illustrator. Photoshop was used in this rework however - I played around with the colour until I got the perfect shade of gold to go with the deep red. Of course like my other patterns, this one is also seamless. :)

Gold and red leaf pattern mug

I've added this pattern to my RedBubble, Zazzle, and Society6 shops. (My Society6 shop is moving along nicely by the way, I plan on sharing more details about it at the end of the month, but I am liking it a lot!)
Redbubble Gold and Red Pillow Stack

Gold and Red Throw Blanket

I especially love this pattern on home decor. These colours stand out and are elegant, adding beautiful accents to a room.

A gold monogram on this tote bag makes the perfect personalized accessory! :)

Cat Face Doodle Pattern

I seem to have skipped showing this design on my blog! Since its Inktober and I did draw these cat faces in ink, I figured now is a good time to show them off. ;)

I was flipping through my sketchbook one day and it occurred to me that despite my love of cats, my sketchbook had nearly 0 cat sketches! I simply couldn't have that, so I just started drawing all these funny cat faces. Here is what I started out with!

I wanted to showcase a wide variety of cats but since these are very doodle type illustrations, I didn't want to make the colours toooooo realistic. I loosely based the cat colours in my patterns off of real cat colours - siamese, orange striped cat, grey tabby etc. The result is a beautiful palette of neutral tones with pops of orange and yellow. Here are some of the products that are available at my shops in this pattern.

cat patterned floor pillow
This is a cat patterned floor pillow from my new Society6 shop! I think
my cat would like this one.

Another home decor staple that the cats will love! My cat pattern, all over
a lovely throw pillow from RedBubble.

I've also added customizable cat pattern products to my Zazzle shop, like this
moleskine notebook with a personalized monogram. :)

And since Zazzle added these lovely new paper placemats to their product lineup,
I couldn't resist turning my cat face lineart into a pattern just so that it can be treated
as a colouring page! You can colour the cats however you want. Each paper placemat
is a set of 25.

What do you think of this new design? Let me know in the comments below! :)

And most of all, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, especially my fellow Canadians as we celebrate Thanksgiving! So happy Thanksgiving everyone, may you have a wonderful dinner with family and friends :D

Fun & Unique Wrapping Paper

Hey guys! I've been updating my Zazzle shop this week and going through some older designs. As I was looking through my shop, I noticed that wrapping paper seems to be a customer favourite. I haven't really shared much about wrapping paper on my blog, so I thought I'd share some with you today.

Zazzle's wrapping paper is so fun to design! :) As someone who creates a lot of patterns, there is just something so satisfying about tiling and resizing your newest pattern on a product. All over print product are definitely my favourite and I always go out of my way to make sure each new pattern I add to Zazzle is added to wrapping paper.

Another reason I love this custom wrapping paper is that it can be used for a variety of things other than wrapping presents. Did you know that people use wrapping paper in crafts and home decor projects? When I was a student, I worked at a furniture store that would repaint old antiques. Sometimes a vintage print wrapping paper was used on the insides of old cabinets to give it a shabby chic look and new life! You can even add a splash of colour and art to the back of a plain old book case - and if you like the design on your new wrapping paper enough, you may even consider cutting a rectangle piece and framing it as artwork. There is really so much you can do with fun patterned wrapping paper.

spread the joy of sloths to many gift recipients. ;)

Tropical Watercolor Pineapple Pattern Wrapping Paper
This pineapple pattern is another popular one, and one of my personal favourites. :)
If I were to decorate anything in my house with wrapping paper, I would use this pattern
in my kitchen cart cupboards. I use my kitchen cart as an iced tea / Italian soda station, so I think pineapples would be cute with it! Every adult person needs an iced tea station, right? XD

Rainbow Unicorns & Gold Stars Pattern Wrapping Paper
This is a fun one! These unicorns were designed as vectors and the original file is
large, so you can resize the pattern for different looks. This would also be a cute
wrapping paper to do crafts with!

If you are interested in learning some of the crafts you can do with wrapping paper, check out this Buzzfeed article that gives 19 clever ways to use leftover wrapping paper! My personal favourite thing from that list is the 3D shelves... they look great and add a nice pop of colour to a room!

My Sales in September & Shop News!

Hi everyone, I wanted to do a little monthly updates post so I can share some of the things that have sold this month, as well as my shop news! This month I was pretty productive, I made a ton of new designs, lots of new collections for my Zazzle shop (Christmas designs!!), and updated lots of old products on both RedBubble and Zazzle. RedBubble has some new products coming soon, so I've been working on making sure those designs are ready to go when the new stuff launches! I've also been doing a lot of work on improving this blog, started up a twitter, keeping up my Instagram... its been productive for sure!

Shelley was kind enough to put together an interview with me about my art business this month over at her blog Shells Zazzle Journal! click here to visit her blog and read the interview :)

I added a new design this month, my red poppy pattern, which was selected as one of the featured designs for September in the RedBubble group Flower Art (Flower Works II!). Click here to visit the group and to see all the wonderful floral designs.

Another thing I decided to do on a whim was start up my Society6 shop again!

I was torn about Society6 for a while, but I think that their products look really good and after seeing customer photos of the products, I decided that I want to start selling my work there again. What really sold me was the curtains and the floor pillows, which they didn't have when I joined back in 2014. In fact I may have signed up purely to decorate my whole apartment - their products look really good. I've been having fun designing things and its neat to see how different the marketplace and artist base is there compared to my other print on demand shop websites.

Find my shop here: https://society6.com/tanyalegere

Look at these curtains from my shop!! I love that they have curtains!

Red and gold leaf pattern floor pillow
And the floor pillows! They come in round and square and I want many of them.

I'll update my Society6 shop with all of my designs eventually - it will take a while but I'll be happy to get all caught up and get this shop up and running! By the way, the designs featured in the S6 shots above are new and I will be updating Zazzle and Redbubble with them as well :) I've been designing faster than I can update my shops this month, which is a welcome change for me.

Green & Gold Tangles Pattern

I went to a beautiful cottage during the month of September, and had no internet for the whole time I was there. I did bring my laptop however, so I took this rare opportunity of no distractions to really focus on creating new artwork. One of my favourite designs that I made was a garden tangles theme pattern. I created it as a line exploration and added in flowers and swirls, and tried a bunch of different colour palettes with it. I tried gold and dark red, silver, white and green, black and grey, rose gold (which I also love and have added to my shops as well!) ... but my favourite by far is gold and a dark emerald green! Here is the finished pattern.

Green and Gold Tangles Pattern

One thing I love about making patterns like this is how relaxing it is to just do a doodle with no end in mind! :) The gold and green really helps give it a decorative and ornate look. I added it to home decor, device cases and accessories in my shops... here are a few of my favourites!

great on home decor and all over prints.

New Autumn Leaves Pattern

Happy First Day of Autumn!! :)

This week I added a new pattern to my Zazzle and Redbubble shops - My fall colours leaves pattern. This earthy and bright colour palette is inspired by the changing colours on the trees in the fall months. Here in Canada, the trees are changing already and the mix between trees that are still green, and the ones that have turned fully red are beautiful.

This pattern of leaves in all shapes in sizes is coloured in red, orange, brown and green watercolour textures. I arranged them in a way so that they can repeat endlessly, and so that the pattern looks good upside down or right side up, making it great for textiles. I've added it to home decor, accessories, and even created a thanksgiving stationery collection with it! Here are some featured products from the collection.

Zazzle Apple Watch Bands Feature

Custom Leaf Pattern Apple Watch

I was so excited to hear last week that Zazzle has introduced Apple Watch Bands to their product lineup! They actually added quite a few new products last week in anticipation for the Holiday Season - including puzzles, notebooks and iPhone 8 & X cases... though the Apple Watch bands are one of the ones I am most excited about. There aren't many places that offer customized Apple Watch bands, so Apple Watch owners will be pretty happy about these.

Not only do these look great, they are also durable and made with quality leather and have a traditional metal watch buckle. These are hand crafted by the maker In a Flash in Charlottesville, Virginia USA. In a Flash is known for providing long lasting printed and UV-cured custom designed on various items such as iPad smart covers, cases, wearables & more, so its only natural that they added Apple Watch bands to their lineup.
